Son La Arabica coffee originates from the northwestern highlands of Vietnam, particularly in Son La province—one of the country's leading Arabica-producing regions with a cultivation history dating back to the 1940s. It covers around 20,000 hectares, yielding 30,000–40,000 tons annually, making Son La the second-largest Arabica hub after Lam Dong. Grown on mineral-rich limestone soils at elevations of 700–1,500 meters (often 1,000–1,200m), it benefits from a cool, rainy climate with significant day-night temperature swings (up to 10°C) and high humidity, fostering slow cherry maturation for intensified flavors.

Tasting profile: Son La Arabica is known for its balanced, elegant cup with bright yet mild acidity, medium body (often dry mouthfeel), and low bitterness due to lower caffeine (1–2%). Aroma is delicate and lingering, featuring floral (white flowers), herbal, and nutty notes (roasted almonds, Brazil nuts, chestnut). Flavors include tropical/dried fruits (apricot, plum, pineapple, mango, raisins), candy-like sweetness, spices (clove, nutmeg, ginger), and subtle chocolate/cocoa with herbal or ginseng hints when cooled. The finish is clean, sweet, and lingering with mild tannic touches—often evoking Northwest Vietnam's mountainous terroir.
